My writing path, which lead to writing coaching/life coaching:
I have a BA in English Literature from Marywood University. While in college I won first place in fiction and creative nonfiction and my poems were published in literary journals. When I graduated I wanted my professors to direct me as to which genre to pursue. None would. Fiction? Poetry? Creative nonfiction? I didn’t know which to focus on, yet to pursue an MFA I would have to. I am thankful now that they refused to direct my path. Because I was drawn to more than one genre and the path was not clear at the time, I made the choice to write everything that called to me.
Writing has brought a joy and a freedom. I experimented and have had short stories, poetry, novels and novellas published. I have been published by a small traditional publisher in print and in ebook. I have been published by a small Indie publisher in print and in ebook. I have self published a book of my poetry. I now publish my back list books as well as new books through my own small press, Belo Dia Publishing. Belo Dia is Portuguese for beautiful day. It is my belief that every day we are alive is a beautiful day and friends hear me say this often.
I am a three time alumni of the Antioch Writing Workshop where I studied fiction, nonfiction and poetry.
A Desperate Journey, my first novel was published by Samhain in 2008. A Desperate Journey was the first novel I wrote and was an American Title II finalist manuscript. American Title was a contest put on by Dorchester Publishing and Romantic Times magazine. Similar to the American Idol contest, readers voted online and the winner received a publishing contract with Dorchester. During the contest I signed with an agent and a year later he sold my book to Samhain. The book dropped off contract after seven years and was re-released through Belo Dia Publishing.
Dangerous Ties, my first novella, was published by a small Indie press in 2012. Western historical romance. Dangerous Ties was a 2012 RONE award finalist. Dangerous Ties was re-released by Belo Dia Publishing in 2016.
Aboard the Wishing Star, was published by a small Indie press in 2012. Contemporary romance novel. Aboard the Wishing Star was re-released by Belo Dia Publishing in 2015.
Trapping the Butterfly, was published by a small Indie press in 2014. A 1920’s young adult romance novella. Trapping the Butterfly was a 2013 RONE award finalist and won a RONE award for the original cover. Trapping the Butterfly was re-released May 2015 by Belo Dia Publishing as book one in the Butterflies Fly Free series of stories about young women coming of age in the 1920’s.
A Change of Scenery, was published by Sweet Cravings Publishing Jan. 2015. The company has since closed. Belo Dia publishing will release the revised and expanded edition in 2017.

Check Out was planned to be a July 2015 release from Secret Cravings Publishing as part of a military heroes box set. The company went under just days before it released. Belo Dia Publishing published Check Out in 2016.
Jenna’s Christmas was released by DCL Publications Oct. 2016.
Twilight Dips was my first self published book, released in 2013. This poetry anthology contains many of my earliest poems which were published in literary journals while I was in college.

I also write freelance articles for Affair du Coeur magazine and I am the host of Book Lights Radio which airs every Tuesday night 8:30 p.m. eastern on Blog Talk Radio online.
I have taught on writing panels throughout the U.S. and have taught creative writing classes in Memphis, TN and at writing conferences. A member of toastmasters, I enjoy speaking. Many of my students came to me after a class, panel or workshop for private consultations and this practice naturally grew into writing coaching/life coaching. I am a Usui Reiki Master Teacher as well.
Threading the Web, is a blog I began to share writing encouragement, inspiration and tips with my students. You will find the occasional poem here as well.
Private writing coaching sessions are available via Skype.
